Hermilo Vargas Wins WSOP Circuit Bicycle Casino $365 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack

Hermilo Vargas emerged as the winner of the WSOP Circuit Bicycle Casino $365 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack last night to capture his first-ever gold ring. The player also collected $71,195 for besting the event’s massive field of 1,150 entries.

The $365 buy-in tournament was played over four days and featured four starting flights and one final opportunity to buy into Day 2 for $2,200. The No-Limit Hold’em event kicked off with a guaranteed prize pool of $300,000, which was exceeded to eventually reach $401,100. The top 135 positions were paid, min-cashes starting from $600.

Day 3, the final day in contention, kicked off on Tuesday at the host venue, The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California, with 17 players remaining from the gigantic field. Mario Martinez was the chip leader at the start of the day with a total of 3.36 million in chips.

Said El Harrak was the player to have emerged as the chip leader by the time there were only ten players left in contention. The ten finalists were gathered around a single table to play down to a champion. Vargas, the eventual winner, was the short stack at that point.

Vargas’ Final Table Performance

Recollecting his run at the final table, Vargas said that he was the short stack at the beginning, but managed to advance to the chip lead by winning several key pots. The player further pointed out that the final table was quite a battle with slow action and adrenaline-filled occurrences.

It took three levels of play before a player was eliminated. However, with limits going up, players were really forced into more adventurous moves. The final table was played over seven hours before a victor was crowned. Vargas eventually faced start-of-the-day chip leader Mario Martinez heads-up. Both players were vying for their first WSOP Circuit gold rings.

However, the piece of jewelry was Vargas’ to win. As for Martinez, he received $44,120 for his runner-up finish from the event.

The winner currently makes a living by participating in the live tournaments to be taking place at The Bicycle Casino and also at the cash game tables at the popular gambling venue. He is a former taxi driver, but he left that profession some time ago to devote his time to poker.

The Monster Stack event was the second gold ring tournament on the schedule of the ongoing WSOP Circuit Bicycle Casino festival. The Bell Gardens stop of the popular live poker series is the final one of this year. The gambling venue will play host to the WSOP Circuit all the way through December 12.

The poker series will then take a holiday hiatus, and is set to return on January 3, 2018, when the doors of Choctaw Durant in Durant, Oklahoma will be opened for everyone wishing to take part in the WSOP Circuit’s tournaments and win a gold ring.
