Day 2 of the Season XVI WPT Bellagio Elite Poker Championship $10,400 Main Event wrapped up on Wednesday from fabulous Las Vegas. The field has been cut down to the final 44 players, and it’s Julian Parmann (pictured above) out in front with a stack of 255,400.
Parmann narrowly edged out Daniel Merrilees’ stack of 245,000 to grab the lead, then there’s a drop off to below 200,000 for Adrian Garduno’s third-place stack of 198,000.
Of the 44 remaining players, five of them are WPT Champions Club members. Justin Young has the biggest stack among that group with 97,000. He’s joined by Ryan Van Sanford (59,100), Seth Davies (29,400), Nick Schulman (23,300), and Mohsin Charania (19,600).
Phil Hellmuth (pictured below), host of the WPT Raw Deal, reentered for Day 2 and did advance to Day 3. He did so with just 3,100 in chips and will be the shortest stack to return to play on Thursday. With blinds going to 600-1,200 with a 200 ante, Hellmuth will start Day 3 with less than three big blinds.
Other notables scattered throughout the leaderboard are Kevin MacPhee (178,800), Sean Winter (115,400), Byron Kaverman (77,000), Kathy Liebert (58,800), Jason Koon (50,500), and Ben Yu (32,300).
Players who were eliminated on Day 2 include Tom Marchese, John Hennigan, Chris Moorman, Jesse Sylvia, and Simon Deadman, just to name a few.
With 126 total entries in the field, the Season XVI WPT Bellagio Elite Poker Championship prize pool tallied in at $1.222 million. The top 16 spots will reach the money, with a min-cash worth $15,889. Reaching the official WPT final table of six will earn players at least $60,499, and the winner is set to take home $363,879. There are also 1,000 points in the Hublot WPT Player of the Year race up for grabs to the winner.
Day 3 is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. local time on Thursday, with another five 90-minute levels of play on the slate.
In addition to the $10,400 buy-in WPT Bellagio Elite Poker Championship Main Event, the festival schedule features a $25,500 buy-in WPT Bellagio High Roller that kicks off Saturday, May 5. The first two days of this event will run May 5-6 and the field will play down to the final table of six. After the final table is reached on May 6, the players will break to return on May 25 to play out the final table at the brand new, state-of-the-art Esports Arena Las Vegas at Luxor Hotel & Casino. This event will be filmed for television broadcast and the winner will receive a luxurious Hublot watch.
