New Jersey Poker Players Pay $3.88 Million In Rake In October

New Jersey’s poker market was worth $3.88 million last month, according to figures released by state gaming regulators this week.

Online poker accounted for $1.93 million in revenue during October, per the state figures. That was 19 percent less than the $2.39 million that was generated in October 2016.

Live poker revenue was $1.95 million, down about six percent from the $2.08 million from the same month a year ago.

Taken together, poker revenue for Atlantic City’s five brick-and-mortar rooms and three online poker operators during October was down about 15 percent year-over-year.

The three online poker networks belong to Borgata (MGM/PartyPoker), Caesars (888) and Resorts (PokerStars). Real-money online poker revenue fell at all three, but it was Resorts/PokerStars that saw the steepest decline with a 30 percent year-over-year decrease.

While poker had a down month, the Atlantic City casino industry as a whole enjoyed a solid four weeks. The state’s online gambling operators reported internet gaming win of $20.6 million in October, an increase of 23.4 percent year-over-year compared to the $16.7 million won in October 2016. The industry’s total gaming win (online plus brick-and-mortar) for the month was $206.4 million compared to $203 million for October 2016, reflecting a 1.7 percent increase.
