Thomas ‘FLOATZ’ Cannuli Wins 2017 World Series of Poker $3,333 ‘Big Grind’ Online No-Limit Hold’em Event

The World Series of Poker first hosted online gold bracelet events on WSOP.com starting in 2015. This year the online offerings were expanded, with a total of three tournaments awarding WSOP gold bracelets. The first of those was the 2017 WSOP $333 buy-in no-limit hold’em ‘Little Grind’ online bracelet event, which drew 2,509 total entries. The second was the $3,333 ‘Big Grind’ event, the largest buy-in tournament ever held on the Nevada online poker site. The tournament attracted a field of 424 entries, with 320 uniques and 104 reentries, to build a prize pool of $1,335,600. In the end 2015 WSOP main event sixth-place finisher Thomas Cannuli emerged victorious, capturing his first gold bracelet and the top prize of $322,815.

Cannuli is a 25-year-old poker pro from Cape May, New Jersey. He had more than $1.5 million in prior live tournament earnings before taking down this event for the second largest payday of his career. The largest was of course the $1,426,283 he scored in the main event in 2015.

Cannuli had plenty of tough competition to deal with at the final table of this event. At the start of final-table action, Cannuli was sitting third in chips behind Tara “BeatrixKiddo” Cain and Adam “HLEDERERER” Owen. Cannuli overtook the lead when his pocket queens drew out on Ryan “holdNfold” Jones pocket kings after getting all-in preflop. Shortly afterward he extended his lead by winning a key race with his AK beating Blake “bk1048” Kelso’s QQ. The board ran out QJ489 to give Cannuli the nut flush and the pot.

Cannuli once again picked up pocket queens to win a big pot, getting all-in against Daniel “Pepperprince” Zack’s pocket kings and Owen’s pocket tens. Cannuli spiked a queen again to take a strangelhold on the final table. Zack hit the rail in fourth place ($97,232) and Owen was left on a very short stack.

Shortly after there was a three-way all-in that saw Cannuli holding the 1010 up against Cain’s A3 and Owen’s A3. The board ran out KQ25Q to secure the pot and the title for Cannuli.
