WCOOP 2017: thehushpuppy delivers double knockout on final hand to win Event #41-H $530 NL

Three-handed. thehushpuppy sat atop a mountain of chips the size of the Himalayas. Then it happened. Three-way all-in pre-flop. Big Slick versus Ace-ten versus Queen-deuce. The board ran out as a nine-high straight. The two short stacks played the board. However, thehushpuppy held A♠T♠ for a better ten-high straight. thehushpuppy picked off both opponents simultaneously to win WCOOP Event #41-H. Earlier this year, thehushpuppy won a TCOOP event in NL Omaha8. This victory marked at least two COOP titles for thehushpuppy.

2017 WCOOP Event #41-H $530 NL attracted 658 runners. They created a prize pool worth $329,000. Only the top 80 places paid out. with $57,005.08 initially set aside to the winner. This rare-single day event started with 12 minutes blind levels for the first five levels before bumping up to 15 minutes for the remainder of the tournament.

With 27 remaining on the final three tables, big stacked idy14 closed in on 4M. idy14 was one of three Brits at the front of the pack with Kashmir_uzi and thehushpuppy. With 18 to go on the final two tables, thehushpuppy seized the lead. With 16 remaining, the trip of Brits occupied the top three spots.

With action hand-for-hand with ten left in the hunt on the final table bubble, MakaRRRevich from Russia took over as the big stack with 7.5M. MiracleQ bubbled off the final table in tenth place after losing a race with 7♠7♥ against fish_san’s A♣Q♣. An Ace on the flop sunk MiracleQ’s hopes of doubling up. fish_san won the pot and headed to the final table.

The final table commenced during Level 35 with blinds at 40K/80K and a 10K ante. At the final table, two big stacks emerged. MakaRRRevich still led with 6.2M, but fish_san swam close by with 6M. BanicIvan was the shortest stack with 1.3M. Four British players advanced to the final table and all were huddle in the middle of the pack.

A couple of notables at the final table… kashmir_uzi won deuce to seven events at the 2015 WCOOP and 2015 SCOOP. Also, the thehushpuppy won a TCOOP earlier this year. Ivan ‘BanicIvan’ Banic won the Super Tuesday and final tables a couple of 2016 SCOOP events. Lastly, fish_san final tabled a 2017 TCOOP, but took third place.

ALL TENSED UP: G0d’sHanD eliminated in 9th place

No deus ex machina in this instance. G0d’sHanD made a final stand with A♦Q♠ for 1,369,383, but unfortunately ran into hdjgkfkgsdl’s A♣A♠. The board ran out T♦8♣7♠3♠7♥ and pocket Aces held up. G0d’sHanD became the first soul to depart from the final table. Ninth place paid out $5,073.96

DON’T TRY TO CALL: idy14 eliminated in 8th place

Classic confrontation. Ace-Queen versus Ace-King. The sparred and you’d be surprised to find out who won! idy14 moved all-in for 2,888,654 with A♠K♠ and Baronch1kk called with A♣Q♥. Both players flopped an Ace, but Baronch1kk flopped top two with the lucky Q♠ as the door card. Baronch1kk won the pot with two pair – Aces and Queens. Mrs. Slick prevailed over Big Slick. The U.K.’s idy14 was dunzo in eighth place, which paid out $6,865.44.

PUSH THE BUTTON: BanicIvan eliminated in 7th place

Two hands later, another datality. BanicIvan bombed it all in for 2.08M with A♦K♠, but Kashmir_uzi woke up with K♣K♦. Kashmir_uzi flopped a set, which held up. BanicIvan rivered top two, but it was futile. Ivan ‘BanicIvan’ Banic was knocked out in seventh place, which paid out $9,289.41.

With six left in the hunt, thehushpuppy led with 10.7M and MakaRRRevich was the shorty with 2.1M.

GILLIGAN’S ISLAND: MakaRRRevich eliminated in 6th place

Haves vs. have-nots. Mountain-stacked thehushpuppy bombed it all-in 13.5M with A♠J♥. MakaRRRevich called all-in for 1,801,760 with A♥K♦. A Jack on the flop was all she wrote. The board finished up J♦8♣6♠3♥3♠, and thehushpuppy won the pot with Jacks and treys. MakaRRRevich was knocked out in sixth place, which paid out $12,569.21.

BRICKLAYER: Baronch1kk eliminated in 5th place

How about a race with overcards versus sixes? Russia’s Baronch1kk mad a final stand with K♠J♣ and shoved for 3,846,594. thehushpuppy caled with 6♣6♠. The board ran out T♦5♦4♥8♣3♦. thehushpuppy’s pocket sixes held up. Baronch1kk was dunzo in fifth place, which paid out $17,007.02.

With four to go, thehushpuppy held 19.9M, or more than 60% of the chips in play.

STRANGE WEEK: Kashmir_uzi eliminated in 4th place

Kashmir_uzi made a valiant final stand with Ace-trey, but lost to Big Slick. Kashmir_uzi moved all-in for 4,114,995 with A♠3♥, and thehushpuppy re-shoved for 19,427,941 with A♣K♠. Neither player improved, but thehushpuppy won the pot with Ace-high and a better King-kicker. Kashmir_uzi earned $23,011.70 for a fourth-place payout.

With three left in the hunt, thehushpuppy led with 24M, followed by hdjgkfkgsdl’s 5.6M and fis_san’s 3.3M.

BIG SKY > ULTRACORE: hdjgkfkgsdl eliminated in 3rd place; fish_san eliminated in 2nd place; thehushpuppy wins Event #41-H!

On the second hand of three-handed, the two short stacks butted heads. In a fight to the death, fish_san doubled with Ace-trey against hdjgkfkgsdl’s 8♥8♠. hdjgkfkgsdl was left with less than 1M. Two more hands and it would be all over.

Double-elimination on the final hand. Going into the finale, thehushpuppy led with 23.4M versus fish_san’s 9M and hdjgkfkgsdl’s 420K. thehushpuppy limped from the button, hdjgkfkgsdl called all-in, fish_san shoved for 8,991,866, and thehushpuppy called.

fish_san led with Big Slick. However, the board ran out as a nine-high straight. Both the small stacks played the board, but thehushpuppy rivered a ten-high straight to win the pot and side pot.

The U.K.’s hdjgkfkgsdl busted in third place, which paid out $31,136.46. Japan’s fish_san got knocked out in second place. For a runner-up finish, fish_san gobbled up $42,129.79.

Congrats to thehushpuppy for winning Event #41-H. First place paid out $57,005.08. This marked at least two COOPs for thehushpuppy, who won a TCOOP in January.
