Hossein Ensan Wins WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov €1,650 Main Event

It took five days of play before the WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov crowned its champion. Last night, Hossein Ensan claimed the title and the final gold ring within the Rozvadov festival. The player was also rewarded with a €184,812 payout for outlasting everyone else in the field and for his spectacular performance at the final table.

The €1,650 Main Event kicked off at King’s Casino Rozvadov on October 13. After two starting flights and two more days of play the final table was set. And the final eight players returned to the host venue on Tuesday to play down to a champion.

Germany’s Jan Timo Jobmann led the final pack with a massive chip stack. Jobmann had already won a gold ring from the Rozvadov festival and he was vying for a second piece of gold. And the player made it all the way to heads-up.

Ensan was third in chips at the time cards were thrown in the air for a final day of quality action in the Main Event. Ensan, originally from Iran but now residing in Germany, began his march towards victory shortly after play resumed on Tuesday. The player was responsible for the first elimination for the day as well as for five more. This secured him with a big advantage over his remaining opponents and with big hopes for the title.

The €1,650 Main Event attracted as many as 672 competitors who were going for the gold ring and the largest portion of the €1 million guaranteed prize pool. The top 71 finishers received a portion of the money. As for the final tablists, each of them was guaranteed a minimum cash of €21,163.

Heads-Up between Ensan and Jobmann

The heads-up duel between Ensan and Jobmann was set after Rifat Gegic put himself at risk during three-handed play. Gegic challenged Ensan into a dangerous confrontation, which he lost to hit the rail in third place. That final elimination secured the eventual winner with considerable advantage over his final opponent into heads-up.

Ensan held 17.825 million upon entering two-handed match to Jobmann’s 2.325 million. Their battle lasted two hands only, during which Jobmann was given little chance to improve.

The final hand of play unfolded with the two players checking pre-flop. The [10d][4d][2c] hit the flop. Jobmann checked and Ensan bet 200,000. Jobmann check-raised to 550,000 only to see his opponent shove. Jobmann called for his last chips turning over [Qd][3d]. Ensan held [8d][7d].

The [9h] appeared on the turn and the [8s] ran out on the river to give Ensan a winning pair. Jobmann received €116,000 for his runner-up finish. That was the German’s fourth in-the-money finish within the WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov festival.

Last night’s victory was not Ensan’s first major poker title. In 2015, the player took down the EPT Season 12 Prague €5,300 Main Event for the amount of €754,510, his largest live cash so far. Including last night’s payout, the player’s live tournament earnings now exceed $2.3 million.
