The July running of the 2018 Card Player Poker Tour Ocean’s 11 San Diego Classic $250 buy-in no-limit hold’em event drew a total of 938 entries, the largest CPPT event ever held at Ocean’s Eleven Casino! A total of 859 entries were made over the six starting flights that ran from July 26-28, with another 79 players opting to take advantage of the Quantum Tournament structure and buy directly into day 2 for $1,500. As a result of the solid turnout, the total prize pool swelled to $264,900. The lion’s share of that money was awarded to eventual champion Seth Brown, who earned $46,870 for emerging victorious with the title.
The top 133 finishers made the money in this event, with plenty of notable players making the money including Mike Eskandari (34th – $990), two-time WSOP bracelet winner Upeshka DeSilva (41st – $875) and Valentin Vornicu (111th – $430).
2017 July champion of this event Barry Seidman made an impressive run at becoming a two-time champion, but eventually hit the rail in fourth place with $16,150. Veronica Daly was the chip leader after the six starting flights, and she used her stack to make it all the way to the final three players before she was knocked out in third place ($21,385).
In the end Brown defeated Aaron Magers heads-up to secure the title, sending him to the rail with $30,090. This was the third time that Magers has cashed in this tournament, having placed 41st in April of 2016 and 20th this January.

This was the seventh CPPT event held at the legendary Ocean’s 11 Casino. In April of 2016, Robert DeAgazio took home $23,813 for topping a field of 778 entries. In January of 2017, Barry Knowlton pocketed $17,157 after he overcame a field of 582. In April of 2017 Shawn Busse outlasted a massive field of 920 total entries to win $48,910. Barry Seidman topped 910 entries in July of 2017 to win $38,873. Scott ‘Brian’ Blount earned $37,010 after defeating a field of 691 entries in January of 2018. Most recently David McCaw outlasted 902 entries to win $29,649 in April of 2018.
Ocean’s 11 is the only casino in Southern California located along the Pacific Ocean on the Interstate 5 freeway, less than a mile from some of the area’s most picturesque beaches. It boasts 50 tables of the best poker and table games found anywhere in California with all the favorite poker games, including no-limit and limit Texas hold’em, Omaha, Omaha hi-lo split eight-or-better, pot-limit Omaha, and crazy pineapple.
