In a remarkable display of skill and consistency, Eric Blair has secured his second title at the 2025 PokerGO Cup, triumphing in Event #6: $15,100 No-Limit Hold’em. This victory, which comes just days after his win in Event #4, not only adds $352,350 to his earnings but also propels him to second place on the PokerGO Cup leaderboard, trailing Joey Weissman by a mere 44 points.
The tournament attracted 87 entries, culminating in a prize pool of $1,305,000. The final table featured seasoned professionals, including six-time bracelet winner Nick Schulman and two-time bracelet winner Keith Lehr. Blair entered the final day with one of the smaller stacks but quickly gained momentum by doubling up through Christian Roberts with ace-jack against ace-six.
Schulman was the first to be eliminated when his ace-king failed to overcome Michael Berk’s pocket fours, resulting in a sixth-place finish. Matthew McEwan followed in fifth place after his king-five suited couldn’t surpass Berk’s ace-queen. Roberts, the start-of-day chip leader, exited in fourth place when his flopped pair of eights was outdone by Lehr’s rivered flush.
In a pivotal three-handed hand, Blair’s pocket queens held strong against Berk’s pocket sixes, sending Berk to the rail in third place. This hand gave Blair a commanding lead as he entered heads-up play against Lehr. The duel was brief; on the first hand, Blair’s queen-three suited connected on a 5-5-3 flop, and after all the chips went in, he improved to two pair on the turn, securing the victory as Lehr’s ace-king did not improve.
This back-to-back success has significantly bolstered Blair’s standings in both the PokerGO Tour (PGT) and the Card Player Player of the Year (POY) rankings. With his recent performances, Blair has accumulated 537 PGT points, positioning him just behind Weissman, who leads with 581 points. In the POY race, Blair’s total has reached 1,380 points, placing him 13th in the standings.
Reflecting on his achievements, Blair expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete at such a high level and acknowledged the support of his peers and the poker community. As the 2025 PokerGO Cup progresses, all eyes will be on Blair to see if he can maintain his exceptional form and possibly overtake the current leaderboard leader.
