Emerging victorious from a pool of 57 contenders at the 2023 Triton Super High Roller Series Vietnam $25,000 short deck event, Danny Tang secured his first Triton Poker title, along with the top prize of $427,000 and the trophy.
Having won a bracelet in the past, the Hong Kong native’s total tournament earnings now stand at almost $13.7 million, with over $4.9 million of that sum having been accumulated through Triton events.
In memory of Ivan Leow, who lost his life while attending the Triton Poker festival in Cyprus the previous year, Tang dedicated this triumph.
“I think about him every day,” Tang told Triton reporters. “Every single day…This is definitely dedicated to him.”
Despite facing a stacked final table comprising eminent players such as Michael Watson, who won the World Poker Tour and the European Poker Tour (6th), Isaac Haxton, who emerged as the Super High Roller Bowl V champion (5th), Richard Yong, the victor of Aussie Millions’ $100,000 high roller championship (3rd), and Stephen Chidwick, a two-time POY awardee (2nd), Tang emerged triumphant in this tournament.
Having achieved his sixth final table finish of the year, Isaac Haxton has garnered 2,523 points and $3,991,140 in POY earnings. With three titles already secured in 2023, including a pair of million-dollar paydays after clinching $100,000 buy-in events at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, Haxton now occupies the sixth spot in the overall POY standings, courtesy of his phenomenal performance at the start of the year.
Thanks to his impressive display in this tournament, Stephen Chidwick has also advanced up the POY leaderboard. His $310,000 and 350 points earned as the runner-up have propelled him to the 17th position in the rankings, with 2,066 points and $2,408,132 in accumulated POY earnings.
