Maksim Vaskresenski Wins Super High Roller Bowl Series $100K Buy-In NLH

Maksim Vaskresenski has triumphed in the 2024 Super High Roller Bowl Series $102,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino in Cyprus, earning $1,250,000 for the win. This is a career-best performance for the Polish player, who now has nearly $2.1 million in recorded tournament score under his belt.

Prior to this win, Vaskresenski’s best cash was the $337,000 he earned for a sixth-place showing in a $25,000 buy-in at the Triton Jeju stop earlier this year. This event drew 35 entries, building a prize pool of $3,430,000 for the top five finishers. 2024 Poker Hall of Fame inductee Patrik Antonius was the unfortunate bubble boy, ensuring at least $280,000 for the five players who outlasted him.

A preflop calsh of pocket pairs spelled the end of Artsiom Lasouski’s run. His two sixes were unable to come from behind against the pocket nines of four-time bracelet winner Adrian Mateos, which meant that the Belarusian was eliminated in fifth place ($280,000).

Despite scoring that knockout, Mateos was ultimately the next to fall. The Spanish poker pro ran A-3 into the pocket queens of France’s Thomas Santerne and found no help. Mateos earned $420,000 for his third straight final-table finish at this series. He now has two titles and 16 final-table finishes for 2024.

Bracelet winner and recent World Series of Poker main event seventh-place finisher Brian Kim was left short when his JDiamond Suit10Diamond Suit was unable to best the AHeart SuitKHeart Suit of Maksim Vaskresenski. He was eliminated not long after by Santerne. Kim earned $610,000 for his latest deep run, bringing his career earnings to nearly $9.6 million in the process. He is now the 13th-ranked player in the _PGT_standings.

That left Santerne and Maksim Vaskresenski heads-up for the title, with the former holding 4,725,000 to the latter’s 4,025,000. Vaskresenski was soon able to edge into the lead and then extend his advantage. In the final hand Maksim Vaskresenski shoved from the button with KSpade Suit7Club Suit and Santerne called from the big blind for his last 10 or so big blinds with QClub Suit6Diamond Suit. The board ran out KClub Suit4Spade Suit2Spade SuitKDiamond Suit8Club Suit and Vaskresenski made trip kings to lock up the pot and the title.

Santerne cashed for $870,000 as the runner-up. This was the third-largest score for the French player. He now has $4,397,483 in lifetime earnings.
