Roland Rokita Wins Triton Poker Jeju $20,000 Event For $904,000

Roland Rokita emerged victorious from a field of 225 contenders in the $20,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event at the 2024 Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju festival. The Austrian clinched a career-defining payday of $904,000 and secured his inaugural Triton title with this triumph.

Reflecting on his win, Rokita expressed profound significance, stating to Triton reporters, “It means a lot. I came here, I prepared a lot. To lift the trophy, it’s unbelievable.”

The event, held at the Landing Casino Jeju, attracted a significant field, generating a prize pool of $4,500,000 distributed among the top 39 finishers. Notable names such as five-time bracelet winner John Juanda (15th), two-time European Poker Tour champion and World Poker Tour main event winner Mike Watson (12th), and five-time Triton Poker winner Danny Tang (11th) fell just short of reaching the final table.

As the final table commenced, Aleksandr Zubov led the pack with Rokita in the third chip position. Rokita made a remarkable entrance by eliminating Yu Xiangyu (9th) and Tobias Schwecht (8th) in a double knockout, reducing the field to seven contenders.

Further narrowing the competition, four-time Triton winner Mikita Badziakouski’s pocket tens triumphed over Damir Zhugralin’s A-10 suited (7th – $154,000). Rokita’s ascent continued as he sent bracelet winner Leon Sturm packing in sixth place ($210,000) with a superior hand.

Rokita’s dominance persisted as he claimed successive eliminations, overpowering Zubov and Badziakouski to secure his place in the heads-up duel against Sirzat Hissou. Ultimately, Hissou succumbed to Rokita’s prowess, settling for a commendable third-place finish worth $439,000.

In the final showdown, Rokita initially faced setbacks but swiftly rebounded, ultimately sealing victory with pocket nines against Hissou’s pocket deuces. With this decisive hand, Rokita claimed the Triton title and left Hissou in second place ($599,000).
