Isaac Haxton Wins Asian Poker Tour Taipei High Roller Title

Isaac Haxton and Danny Tang both clinched seven first-place finishes in 2023, tying for the highest number of titles on the live tournament circuit that year. Haxton boasted 27 final table appearances, amassing over $15.9 million in winnings, the most among all players.

Although Haxton started 2024 with two final table finishes, he experienced a dry spell afterward. However, he broke this streak on March 3 by winning a high-roller event at the Asian Poker Tour Taipei stop. Defeating a field of 137 players in the NT$300,000 ($9,504 USD) buy-in no-limit hold’em event, he pocketed $290,869 USD.

Reflecting on the intense heads-up match, Haxton described it as “wild,” with big pots and constant fluctuations. This victory pushed his career earnings past $49.2 million, maintaining his eighth position on poker’s all-time money list and nearing the milestone of $50 million in cashes.

Haxton earned 528 Card Player Player of the Year points, bringing his total to 1,063 and placing him just outside the top 50 in the 2024 POY standings presented by Global Poker.

Ren Lin, who ranked fifth in the 2023 POY standings, finished as the runner-up in this tournament, showcasing another strong performance. Notable players such as Jans Arens (17th), Wing Po Liu (11th), Sung Joo Hyun (8th), and Punnat Punsri (6th) also cashed in the event.
