David Coleman Wins Final WPT Alpha8 Trifecta High Roller

David Coleman came into 2024 without a live tournament title to his name, despite millions in earnings on the circuit accrued over more than a decade of play. David Coleman beat out a field of 117 entries that turned up at Wynn Las Vegas for the event to earn $730,300.

“Amazing…every time you win a poker tournament it’s like a weight off your shoulders and it feels amazing,” Coleman told WPT reporters.

“I’m so happy… no words.”

This score grew Coleman’s recorded tournament earnings to $6,830,818. It also saw him earn 840 POY points, bringing his haul to the year up to 6,720. He has now made 18 final tables in 2024, the most of any player on the circuit. As a result, David Coleman is now sitting in first place in the POY race standings presented by Global Poker. He now sits just 93 points ahead of second-ranked Adrian Mateos.

The 117-entry turnout for this event built a prize pool of $2,796,300. The top 15 finishers made the money, with plenty of big names running deep including bracelet winners Isaac Haxton (8th), Pavel Plesuv (7th), Roman Hrabec (6th), and Andrew Lichtenberger (4th).

Plesuv has a WPT main tour title to his name in addition to a win at the series. He took down the 2018 WPT Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open main event for $504,820.

Nikita Kuznetsov earned $480,000 as the runner-up. The Russian now has nearly $3.8 million in lifetime cashes after this latest deep run.
