Jamie Walden Wins 2024 WSOP $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty Event

The 2024 World Series of Poker $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame no-limit hold’em bounty event drew 1,119 entries, building a total prize pool of $1,970,906. After three days of poker action it was British poker player Jaime Walden who emerged victorious with the bracelet and the top prize of $313,370.

This was the 15th career cash and second recorded title for Walden, who hails from Tisbury, England. He now has $417,532 in total earnings to his name.

This tournament was first introduced in 2021, making this the fourth annual running. The unusual buy-in price point stems from the founding date of Poker’s Hall of Fame, which was established in 1979. Hall of Fame members who played each sported a bounty that corresponded to the year they were inducted. For the sake of example, 2024 inductee Patrik Antonius would have been worth $2,024 to eliminate.

The top 167 finishers made the money in this event, with big names like 2014 WSOP main event winner Martin Jacobson (19th), 10-time bracelet winner and Hall of Famer Erik Seidel (17th), Poker Hall of Fam member Jack McClelland (15th), bracelet winner Martin Finger (6th), Ankit Ahuja (5th), and Adam Hendrix (4th).

Frequent high-stakes tournament player David Stamm finished third for $148,183, leaving Walden heads-up with Naseem Salem for the bracelet. Salem held roughly a 6:5 chip lead to start, but the two traded the lead before Walden pulled ahead for the final time. In the last hand of the even, Salem raised to 2,500,000 on the button with 9Diamond Suit7Diamond Suit and Walden called from the big blind with 10Club Suit3Club Suit. The flop came down KSpade Suit9Club Suit7Club Suit and Walden checked with his flush draw. Salem bet 2,000,000 and Walden check-raised all-in Salem called with his nines and sevens. The 8Club Suit on the turn completed Walden’s flush, leaving Salem in need of a nine or seven on the river. The QSpade Suit appeared instead and Salem was sent home in second place ($208,919).
