Maria Ho: From Waitress To Multi Millionaire Poker Player!

It’s not easy picturing Maria Ho scrubbing bathrooms and fetching shoes for female customers, as most of us are more familiar with her analyzing poker hands and running deep in tournaments.

But during high school and before poker stardom came her way, Ho had some jobs that typical teenagers know all too well. Like working as a hostess at Tony Roma’s restaurant and assisting ladies in purchasing footwear and handbags at Nine West.

It was at Tony Roma’s where Maria was subjected to bathroom cleaning duties, paired up with a mop and a bucket long before her pairings were of the top pair and two pair variety. Ho admitted to the menial labor tasks in a short video at WPT Amsterdam as seen below:

With over $2.7 million in live tournament cashes, good for 9th place on the Women’s All Time Money List, Ho is a 2018 nominee for the Women in Poker Hall of Fame. Combined with an effervescent personality that comes out in spades while serving as a commentator and co-host on poker shows, Maria will certainly enter that hallowed Hall at some point – if not this year.

She’s come a long way since scrubbing bathrooms as a teen.
