Tom Marchese Leads Final Six In Wpt Bellagio High Roller; Play Resumes May 25 At Esports Arena Las Vegas

The six-handed final table of the WPT Bellagio High Roller is set, and the remaining competitors will return to Las Vegas on Friday, May 25, to compete for the title and $432,000 in first-place prize money at Esports Arena Las Vegas at Luxor Hotel & Casino. Leading the way with a big lead is Tom Marchese (pictured) with 2.359 million.

Marchese needs little introduction when it comes to high rollers. According to his profile on HendonMob.com, Marchese entered this event with nearly $17 million in live tournament earnings. He has several big scores in events with a buy-in of $25,000 or higher, including 15 worth more than $250,000 and six worth more than $1 million.

Marchese entered Day 2 with the lead and only gave it up for a few hands here or there. Helping him to land the big lead to end the day was when he busted Byron Kaverman in ninth place to send the field into the money.

With the blinds at 6,000-12,000 with a 12,000 big blind ante, Kaverman raised to 30,000 from middle position. Marchese, out of the big blind, reraised enough to put Kaverman all in and Kaverman called with the JdJh. Marchese had the AsKd. The board ran out TcTd5hKsAh and Kaverman was the tournament’s “bubble boy.”

Marchese’s stack of 2.359 million is nearly 1 million more than David Peters’ second-place stack of 1.575 million. Then it’s Aaron Ogus (857,000), Sam Several (391,000), Rainer Kempe (175,000), and Jake Schindler (43,000) to round out the final table. The final six players are guaranteed $81,000 in prize money.

Fourteen players returned to start Day 2, but the numbers of entries kept growing for the first two hours as registration and reentry remained open. When registration finally closed, the final tally was 54 entries with the top eight places set to pay. Some of those eliminated short of the money on Day 2 were WPT Champions Club members Larry Greenberg, Seth Davies, and Nick Schulman, as well as Maria Ho, Cary Katz, and Jason Koon.

After Kaverman busted on the bubble, it was Ankush Mandavia busting in eight place, earning $54,000, and three-time WPT winner Anthony Zinno falling in seventh place for $67,500. Mandavia was eliminated by Rainer Kempe, and Zinno was busted by Aaron Ogus.

Now it’s time for a two-week break from the event before the players return to action on May 25 at Esports Arena Las Vegas. The $20 million, 30,000 square-foot, multi-level arena will be the battleground as these six competitors fight for the WPT Bellagio High Roller title come the end of May. Family, friends, and all spectators are welcome for the final table that will kick off at 4 p.m. PT on May 25, with a special WPT Experience going on all day leading up to the final table.
