WPT Cambodia announced as first World Poker Tour Event

The World Poker Tour® today announced the first open WPT® Main Tour event to be held in the Asia-Pacific region since Season XII with the premiere of WPT Cambodia in Season XIX at NagaWorld Integrated Resort in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The $3,500 buy-in WPT Cambodia Main Event will open Season XIX of the World Poker Tour from July 21-July 25, 2020. The full WPT Cambodia festival is on tap for July 15-July 28.

This major breakthrough into the Asia-Pacific region comes on the heels of the first-ever WPT event held in Cambodia in November 2019 that featured a record-breaking turnout and the largest prize pool in Cambodian poker history. Brian Tougias defeated a field of 750 entries and took home $131,430 in the $1,100 buy-in event that nearly tripled the $250,000 guarantee. Of those 750 entries, 41 unique countries were represented.

The full WPT Cambodia festival will be packed with 26 events ranging in buy-ins from $200 up to $15,000, including the $550 buy-in NagaWorld Billions opener, $1,100 buy-in WPT Cambodia Mini Main Event and the $10,000 High Roller Championship. Also on the schedule is the $15,000 WPT Cambodia Short Deck High Roller Championship. The full schedule can be found on WPT.com.

Players can look forward to a full season of events at NagaWorld Integrated Resort across the WPT calendar. The Season XIX WPTDeepStacks™ Cambodia festival will take place from November 11-24, 2020. This event will be eligible for points in the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year race which includes a first-place prize of a $10,000 WPT Passport.

To close out the WPT APAC schedule in Season XIX, the inaugural WPT NagaWorld Asia-Pacific Championship festival will take place from May 5-18, 2021. Both WPT Cambodia and the WPT NagaWorld Asia-Pacific Championship winners will be eligible for the Season XIX WPT Tournament of Champions.
